The Snack Bar/Miniature Train Manager will manage the Cabin John Ice Rink Snack Bar (year-round) and the Cabin John Miniature Train (open seasonally, April - October). EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
What the job will involve: Manages Snack Bar Manage the overall day to day operations of the snack bar. Develop and implement long term goals and operational procedures (e.g. hours, rules, safety, etc.). Supervises seasonal staff. Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates staff to assist with equipment operations, food storage and preparation of food served. Ensures staff receive required trainings (Customer Service, Active Montgomery, Equipment Operation, Food handling, preparation, and storage, Kitchen hazard awareness and emergencies, etc.). Manages customer service. Routinely check equipment and coordinate maintenance and repairs of equipment when necessary. Recommend replacing equipment when necessary. Complies with County Health Department standards for kitchen equipment, sanitation, food storage, food preparation, and service and sales. Ensure a staff person with a Safe Serv certification is scheduled when snack bar is open. Manager must maintain a Safe Serv certification. Inventory and order supplies for resale. Monitor and account for food waste. Manages Miniature Train Manage the overall day to day operations of the Cabin John Train. Develop and implement long term goals and operations procedures (e.g. hours, rules, safety, etc.). Supervises seasonal staff. Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates staff. Ensure all staff receive required trainings (CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, Customer Services, Active Montgomery, etc.) Conducts performance appraisals. Coordinates schedules for facility rentals/parties. Manages customer service activities of the facility. Sets a positive example for employees ensuring customers are treated in a prompt, professional, respectful manner. Coordinates maintenance and repairs of equipment and the facility. Work on project planning and facility improvements. Coordinates annual safety inspections to ensure the train is in compliance with Maryland Amusement Ride Regulations (DLLR). Organize and direct “Eye Spy” Spring and Fall Special Events. Works with marketing staff to promote facility through various media outlets including social media (website; google ads); assist with preparation of marketing materials such as brochures and flyers. Review and monitor facility websites for needed changes and make necessary updates. Budget and Administration Prepares budget formulation of the Cabin John Miniature Train and Cabin John Snack Bar regarding projected revenues and expenditures. Responsible for regularly monitoring revenues and expenditures within approved budget and reporting them to Management. Prepares financial reports and makes recommendations of fees and resale prices. Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as cash reports (collects and deposits revenues); records facility inventory (tools, office supplies, resale, etc.); approving staff timecards; documents maintenance needs and staff schedules. Important Skills and Characteristics: Ability to effectively communicate and lead a team of people. Ability to synthesize data and transform it into coherent strategic work plans. Demonstrate ability to manage complex problems.Superb written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in office software (MS Office), software for planning, scheduling, communicating (email), word processing, collecting and reporting data, preparing presentations, and researching information.Proven ability to approach and interact with people of all backgrounds and the ability to think collaboratively with various members of the organization.Comprehensive knowledge of recreational facility management, safety and health regulations, budgeting principles, special event planning, procurement practices, cash handling, etc.

Class Specification: Recreation/Park Facility Manager I -1857May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.Working Conditions: Works inside and outside an assigned facility which may operate seven days per week. Works extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. On-call to respond to emergency situations as required.
