Retina & Macular Disease Specialists is a retina/ophthalmology practice in Arlington, VA. We are looking for a PART-TIME Ophthalmic Technician/Medical Assistant to join our team. This is a part-time position that allows for either one or two days of work (TUESDAYS and/or THURSDAYS).
The Ophthalmic Technician (Medical Assistant) is a direct patient care position in which the individual will work directly with our physicians and the rest of the Tech team.
The Ophthalmic Technician’s daily responsibilities will include:
- Taking medical histories including personal and family histories, medications, allergies, etc
- Checking visual acuity and measuring intraocular pressure
- Performing diagnostic testing including fundus photography, optical coherence topography and fluorescein angiography
- Setting up for procedures including intravitreal injections and retinal lasers
Extensive training is provided. We are looking for a motivated, kind, caring, committed person. Many of our previous technicians have gone on to medical and PA school. Prior patient care experience is preferred, but not required. Some working knowledge of Spanish would be helpful, but is not required.
