Job Description:

Summary:

The Department of History is seeking a reliable and organized Events Assistant to support the planning and execution of departmental events.

Responsibilities:

Assist with planning and organizing department events.
Help with event set up, breakdown, and day-of logistics.
Track RSVPs and documents event attendance.
Create flyers, graphics, and promotional materials in collaboration with History Communications Assistant.
Takes photos at department events for future promotional materials.
Monitor History email inbox.
Provide front-desk coverage for History Department Office.
Wednesday availability required.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:

Part-Time.
5-10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

$17.95 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

Must be enrolled at American University as an undergraduate student.
Experience assisting with events.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Familiarity with Canva or similar tools.
Active federal work study grant.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Interest in history a plus.
Customer service experience a plus.
