Join Our Team as a Medical Assistant in the Cardiology Department at Medstar Shah MSO

Medstar Shah MSO is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to enhance our Cardiology Department's capabilities. In this role, you will perform both clinical and administrative tasks, assisting our cardiologists and dedicated nursing staff. This is a pivotal role that balances patient care with technical proficiency in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver exceptional patient care, ensuring a warm welcome at check-in and a smooth process at check-out.
Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for physician consultations.
Accurately record and manage vital signs, medical histories, and detailed patient information.
Support healthcare providers during examinations and carry out physician-directed procedures.
Administer medications and injections, perform EKGs, and assist in pacemaker clinics, including report retrieval.
Put on and manage heart monitors and conduct basic laboratory tests.
Handle both regular and hospital billing, including insurance verification, claim processing, and billing tasks.
Maintain detailed electronic medical records and manage patient documentation efficiently.
Ensure readiness of examination rooms, including stocking with necessary medical supplies.
Follow stringent infection control protocols to ensure a safe healthcare environment.
Assist with front desk duties, respond to patient inquiries, and handle phone communications.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office, preferably in cardiology.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and cardiovascular procedures.
Proficiency in performing EKGs and manual blood pressure measurements.
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
CPR certification.
