We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance & Hospitality Associate to support the upkeep and guest experience of our property. This full-time role combines routine maintenance responsibilities with hospitality-focused tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all guests.
Who You Are
You are an organized, reliable professional who takes pride in both maintenance craftsmanship and providing an exceptional guest experience. You bring problem-solving skills and experience in property upkeep, from routine tasks and repairs to preventative maintenance. You thrive on identifying issues before they arise and are the go-to person for our Virtual Assistants (VAs) and guests.
In addition to your maintenance expertise, you excel at hospitality tasks—delivering requested items, assisting guests, and ensuring properties are clean, welcoming, and well-maintained. Flexibility and adaptability are strengths of yours, as each day involves traveling to multiple properties across your region, balancing maintenance needs with guest-focused service. You have a personal, reliable vehicle capable of transporting tools and equipment, and you take pride in being both dependable and professional in every interaction.
Core Responsibilities
- Proactive Property Maintenance & Inspections:
- Answer and complete assigned maintenance and repair work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Conduct thorough pre-arrival and monthly property inspections to ensure Sojourn’s standards are met.
- Suggest improvements to enhance guest satisfaction, Safety and property upkeep.
- Address maintenance proactively, troubleshooting issues to prevent disruptions.
- Preventative Maintenance and General Upkeep: on furniture, change HVAC filters, replace light bulbs and batteries, and perform basic groundskeeping tasks.
- Ensure that all tools and company-provided equipment are clean, well-maintained, and accounted for. Own and maintain a basic set of hand and power tools for common tasks.
- Perform basic repairs in areas like carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems. Examples include repairing locks, replacing fixtures, and clearing clogs ensuring quality and attention to craftsmanship.
- Technical Troubleshooting & Repairs:
- Troubleshoot and maintain smart home devices, including Wi-Fi, door locks, and cameras. Install exterior Ring cameras and other smart security systems when required.Diagnose and repair minor electrical issues, including light fixtures, ceiling fans, and digital locks.
- Conduct basic plumbing maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs on appliances as needed, and occasionally assist with installations.
- Carpet Cleaning & General Cleanliness:
- Ensure carpet cleaning tasks are executed to a high standard, maintaining the property’s cleanliness and enhancing guest comfort.
- Address specific carpet issues promptly, using best practices and quality products.
- Safety & Security Oversight:
- Inspect and maintain safety systems, including smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, security cameras, and alarm systems.
- Schedule repairs or servicing as necessary to uphold guest and owner safety standards.
- Documentation & Communication:
- Accurately document completed tasks, inspections, and maintenance issues with reports and photos.
- Communicate effectively with the Sojourn team to coordinate schedules, share insights, and provide timely updates on property status.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in property maintenance, ideally in a high-end residential or hospitality setting.
- Technical Proficiency: knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair.
- Attention to Detail: Commitment to craftsmanship, taking pride in producing flawless finishes.
- Physical Capability: Able to lift 50+ lbs occasionally, push and pull up to 20 lbs, and comfortably perform physically demanding tasks (climbing stairs, bending, squatting, kneeling).
- Adaptable Schedule: Open to rotational on-call shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Technology Savvy: Comfortable using a smartphone and property management apps to complete duties, communicate, and document tasks.
- Personal, reliable car or vehicle capable of transporting equipment and materials for daily tasks.
- License & Record: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a company background check.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Proactive and independent in troubleshooting and resolving maintenance challenges.
