Medical Assistant / Dermatology Tech (Non-Exempt)

We are is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant/Dermatology Tech to join our team in Frederick, MD. This is an hourly, part-time position (approximately 32 hours per week), specifically designed to work with our Physician Assistant (PA).

The Role: The Medical Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting the medical provider with patient care. You will provide critical assistance, including vital signs, histories, biopsies, and surgical procedures, so the provider can effectively assess and treat skin conditions.

Pay: $16.00 – $22.00 per hour

Schedule: Part-Time (approx. 32 hours/week)

Position Duties & Requirements:

Provider Support: Setting up for procedures and assisting during exams/procedures by handling supplies and instruments.
Surgical Care: Assisting with biopsies and select surgical procedures, including Wide Local Excisions (Note: this role does not include Mohs).
Nursing Procedures: Performing suture removal, dressing changes, and Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT).
Documentation: Coordinating medical histories and completing pathology/lab requisition documents.
Lab Coordination: Preparing specimens for transport to pathology labs.
Clinical Maintenance: Sanitizing equipment and stocking necessary supplies in exam rooms.
Patient Interaction: Facilitating communication between patients and provider; educating patients on post-procedure care and skin health.

Technical & Soft Skills:

Advanced Technology: Strong data entry skills and advanced experience with iPads and EMR programs (ModMed/EMA experience is a plus).
Clinical Knowledge: Good understanding of skin anatomy and medical assisting.
Efficiency: Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and attention to detail.
Teamwork: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate provider needs regarding patient treatment.
Bedside Manner: Empathetic with patient needs and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program.
Dermatology experience is preferred but not necessary; we are happy to train the right person.

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 per week
