Job Title: Radiology Technician (Radiologic Technologist)
Department: Radiology / Diagnostic Imaging
Reports To: Radiology Manager / Chief Radiologist / Medical Director
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract
Job Summary
The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations, including X-rays and other radiologic procedures, to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. The technician ensures patient safety, image accuracy, and adherence to professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays, fluoroscopy, and other assigned radiologic examinations.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring comfort.
- Operate radiologic equipment safely and effectively to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Review images for quality and accuracy before submission to the radiologist.
- Assist radiologists during special procedures when required.
Patient Care & Safety
- Verify patient identity and imaging requests prior to procedures.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
- Monitor patients during procedures and report any adverse reactions.
- Follow infection control, safety, and emergency protocols.
Equipment & Documentation
- Maintain imaging equipment and report any malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
- Keep accurate patient records and imaging documentation in compliance with facility policies.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and transfer of images and reports.
Professional & Team Responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development.
- Adhere to ethical standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Graduation from an accredited radiology training program.
Licensure & Certification
- Valid Radiology Technician license or certification (ARRT or equivalent, depending on country).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
Experience
- Entry-level to experienced candidates encouraged to apply.
- Prior clinical or hospital experience is an advantage.

- Strong knowledge of radiographic procedures and anatomy.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to image quality.
- Ability to operate imaging equipment and computer systems.
- Professional judgment and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Clinical/hospital environment with exposure to radiation (within regulated safety limits).
- Ability to stand for long periods and assist with patient positioning.
- May require lifting or moving patients with assistance
