CATERING EVENT KITCHEN ASSISTANT
The Event Kitchen Assistant supports culinary leadership during catering events by assisting with setup, preparation, service, and breakdown. Success in this role requires arriving on time and in proper attire for every event, bringing positive energy and professionalism to each shift, and consistently delivering exceptional service with a friendly, guest focused demeanor.
**This position is based out of District Heights, Maryland and operates in a hybrid capacity, with required on-site events throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Candidates must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to and from event locations as needed.**
WHAT OUR EVENT KITCHEN ASSISTANT DOES:
- Set up kitchen equipment, including tables, tablecloths, crescors, trash cans, and other event equipment
- Assists with food preparation, including chopping/slicing and re-heating food items to the appropriate temperature
- Assist with food service tasks, including plating and serving dishes, and ensuring that all food is presented following company standards
- Serve as a station attendant when assigned, interacting professionally with guests
- Breakdown kitchen equipment, including tables, crescors, trash/recycling, and other event equipment, and ensuring everything is returned to its correct container/area
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, cleanliness, and guest service
- All other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE AN EVENT KITCHEN ASSISTANT:
- Previous experience as a kitchen assistant, or related field preferred
- Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment; good knife skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds, as needed
- Capable of continuous bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and use of hands and arms
- Ability to lift and carry trays, equipment, or supplies as needed
- Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day in a confined area with fluctuating temperatures
- May be exposed to allergens such as nuts, seeds, soy, shellfish, and dairy
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holiday
