Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shift Supervisor to join our Front of House (FOH) team. As a Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring exceptional customer experiences, fostering a positive team environment, and driving operational efficiency. You will be a key support to the FOH Manager, taking on leadership responsibilities and acting as a role model for our team in a way that is consistent with our mission statement and policies.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service Excellence:
- Lead by example in providing outstanding customer service, resolving customer complaints effectively and professionally.
- Proactively anticipate customer needs and ensure a positive and memorable dining experience.
- Exercise discretion in providing discounts and resolving customer issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Motivate and inspire team members to achieve their best, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment to insure tasking is completed in a timely manner and to company standards.
- Effectively communicate expectations, provide constructive feedback, and recognize team member contributions.
- Conduct thorough and engaging training for new hires, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed.
- Resolve conflict between team members in a professional manner.
Operational Efficiency:
- Receive deliveries, proactively monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of supplies.
- Assign tasks to team members to maximize productivity and ensure completion of necessary tasks.
- Operate POS system, including the proper handling of and responsibility for accuracy of cash drawer, credit cards, gift cards and redeemed discount tickets, passes and coupons
- Oversee the completion of opening and closing checklists, ensuring all tasks are performed accurately and efficiently.
- Assisting with the monitoring and maintenance of a clean shop, restrooms, patio and other areas outside.
- Monitoring risk management as it pertains to the shop, i.e., employee and guest safety, loss prevention, emergency situations, and the proper handling, reporting, and investigating of incidents.
- Required to read and understand training materials and complete necessary food safety manager certification.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the FOH Manager and other team members.
- Provide clear and concise instructions to team members.
- Responding to phone calls and questions from guests in a manner that is consistent with our guest service philosophy.
Administrative Duties:
- Ensure all opening and closing duties are completed fully.
- Assist the FOH manager with daily task as needed.
- Reporting to the management team any problems, discrepancies or unusual situations that arise.
- Completing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 12 months of proven managerial experience in a customer service-oriented role in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in training new team members.
- Ability to work opening, closing, weekend and holiday shifts.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- Compliance with our company dress code.
- High School Diploma.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry objects of moderate weight (40lb), such as ice cream tubs, ingredient containers, boxes of supplies, trash bags, and cleaning supplies. This may involve lifting from floor level to above waist level.
- Reaching and Bending: Ability to reach, bend, and stoop frequently to access ice cream, toppings, cups, cones, and other supplies in freezers, refrigerators, storage areas, and under counters.
- Fine Motor Skills: Ability to use fine motor skills for tasks such as dispensing ice cream, operating a cash register, handling small items (like sprinkles and spoons), and assembling orders.
- Visual Acuity: Adequate visual acuity to read orders, labels, and cash register displays, as well as to judge portion sizes and ensure the quality of the product.
Availability Requirements
- Must have sufficient availability to work 3/4 full shifts per week including at lease two weekend shifts.
- Must be available to work holidays and special weekends such as Spring Break, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day etc.
- Must be able to start as early as 10 a.m. for opening shifts and must be able to as late as Friday & Saturday until 11:15 pm and Sunday - Thursday evenings until 10:30 pm during the school year and to 11:30 pm any evening during summer break.
