Our interdisciplinary approach combines Health & Wellness, Employment & Education, and Legal Navigation services to help clients rebuild healthy, safe, and self-sufficient lives. Services are free and available to newcomers living in the Washington, D.C. metro region, regardless of language or country of origin.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Lead serves as a senior clinical case manager specializing in client services who provides consultative mentorship and subject matter expertise to peers while maintaining a full caseload. The Clinical Lead strengthens clinical quality of services through peer consultation, modeling of best practices, and structured knowledge-sharing.

This role is full-time and exempt. The Clinical Lead reports directly to the Health & Wellness Program Manager. AsylumWorks offers a hybrid work environment. Following the initial onboarding period, employees may be eligible to work remotely up to three days per week contingent on role requirements and supervisor approval.

Direct Service Provision (70%)

Provide clinical case management* to approximately 20-25 client households at a time
Conduct trauma-informed new client intake interviews
Establish trust and rapport to create safe and supportive working relationships with clients
Assess, monitor, and evaluate client needs across the bio-psycho-social-spiritual-legal wellness spectrum
Assist clients in developing strengths-based, client-led wellness plans with goals that can be achieved as part of a 6-month service plan.
Work with clients to develop coping skills needed to manage the emotional distress
Help clients identify, understand and manage the ongoing effects of trauma
Provide referrals to help clients to access community resources to meet urgent and unmet basic needs
Something about care coordination
Serve as point of contact and liaison for volunteers, Good Neighbors, and other helpers as needed
Ensure all client interactions are documented as case notes in a timely and consistent manner
Attend regular professional development opportunities and trainings

*Clinical case management is a technical social work modality that utilizes clinical skills to perform 13 distinct activities, including, but not limited to, engagement of the client, assessment, planning, linkage with resources, consultation with families, collaboration with immigration legal, health and mental health providers, client psychoeducation, and crisis intervention. AsylumWorks staff do not diagnose clients or provide psychotherapy. If a preliminary diagnosis is identified, clients interested in mental health services will be referred to an external provider.

Clinical Mentorship (10%) **

Promote a culture of consistent application of culturally responsive, trauma-informed case management practices to strengthen peer learning across the team.
Provide weekly clinical consultation to assigned Case Managers on a rotational basis.
Coach/help the case manager brainstorm how to approach complex client situations, new populations, and referrals.
Model strengths-based documentation and best practices.
Offer outside perspective on complex cases, trauma-informed practice, etc.
Provide suggestions on how to effectively and efficiently manage time to meet case load targets.
Share resources and best practices to enhance service delivery.
Identify emerging clinical themes or practice gaps and elevate them to the Program Manager to inform team training and support.

Project Management (20%)

Support implementation of grant-related project activities in alignment with established workplans and logic models.
Provide clinical expertise into program design and service approaches.
Assist with special projects as assigned by the Program Manager.

**Clinical Mentorship Framework:

I. Purpose

To promote consistent application of trauma-informed case management practices and strengthen peer learning across the team.

II. Scope of Mentorship

Provide peer consultation about client cases to assigned Case Managers on a rotating basis.
Coach/help the case manager brainstorm how to approach complex client situations, boundaries, and referrals.
Help mentee brainstorm how to support their client/client goals, work with new populations, etc.
Model strengths-based documentation and best practices.
Provide suggestions on how to effectively and efficiently manage time to meet case load targets.
Share resources and best practices to enhance service delivery.
Identify emerging clinical themes or practice gaps and elevate them to the Program Manager to inform team training and support.
Seek supervision and consultation when ethical dilemmas arise and maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality as appropriate. (Note: Confidentiality does not apply if there is suspicion of harm to self, others, including child/elder abuse or neglect.)

III. Boundaries and Protections

Mentorship conversations are professional development discussions, not supervisory directives. Clinical Mentorship is voluntary, consultative and peer-based. H&W staff practice in full compliance with the NASW Code of Ethics and applicable laws, using ethical principles to guide professional judgment and decision-making in all aspects of practice. The Clinical Lead does not:

Provide clinical supervision toward licensure hours.
Sign off on clinical documentation for legal or licensing purposes.
Comment or evaluate program infrastructure- recommendations should come from the mentored employee to the H&W PM
Evaluate staff performance or caseload
Make employment decisions
Assume liability for mentee case decisions

All final case decisions remain the responsibility of the assigned Case Manager, with operational oversight resting with the Health and Wellness Program Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

LGSW required;
Fluency in English and another language;
Experience working with individuals who have experienced significant trauma and/or displacement;
Direct experience with crisis intervention, safety planning, and case management;
Desire to mentor others;
Exemplify high-quality clinical case management skills;
Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary, multicultural setting;
Able to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced environment;
A demonstrated awareness of cultural humility;
Strong interpersonal communication skills;
Valid U.S. Work Authorization;
Computer literate; and
An inherent desire to improve, create, and problem-solve.

SALARY

$60,000-67,000 commensurate with experience and licensure.
