Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager - Fitness to oversee daily operations at our fitness facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional customer service abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of retail and management practices. This role involves supporting the General Manager in managing staff, ensuring excellent member experiences, and maintaining operational excellence. The Assistant General Manager will play a key role in driving sales, managing inventory, and fostering a positive team environment to promote the growth and success of the fitness center.
This is a part-time, multi-studio position with a daily rotation between locations. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 4:00–8:00 PM, plus a Sunday morning shift. You’ll oversee daily front desk operations across three studios, coach and develop staff, uphold brand standards, and partner closely with studio leadership to keep each location running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Supervise staff performance, conduct employee orientation, training & development, and oversee shift management
- Lead recruiting efforts, interview potential employees, and participate in hiring decisions
- Oversee customer service to ensure member satisfaction and resolve escalated issues effectively
- Manage inventory control, purchasing, merchandising, stocking, and POS transactions
- Handle payroll processing, bookkeeping, cash handling, and retail math calculations accurately
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote services and increase sales
- Monitor sales management activities including pricing strategies and retail sales performance
- Maintain organizational standards for cleanliness, safety, and overall store appearance
- Support budgeting processes and assist with financial planning to meet operational goals
- Ensure compliance with company policies and health & safety regulations
- Foster a team-oriented environment that encourages leadership development among staff
Requirements
- Proven experience in management or studio supervision, with assistant manager experience preferred

- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and organizational skills

- Experience with inventory management systems, POS systems, purchasing procedures, and retail math
- Knowledge of marketing strategies, merchandising, stock management, and sales management practices
- Ability to handle cash handling accurately and perform bookkeeping tasks efficiently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in training & development activities
- Ability to manage time effectively across multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced environment
- Leadership qualities that demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills, and adaptability
