Sequoia Restaurant located on the Potomac in Georgetown is beginning its seasonal hiring.With breathtaking views and an elevated experience, spring and summer marks the a dramatic upturn in business and a great earning opportunity for servers and bartenders. Serving experience and a genuine drive for hospitality are required. We will be conducting open interviews from Wednesday 04/15through Friday 04/17 from 1am-4pm. SERVER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary Servers are responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience by providing attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient service. This role requires strong teamwork, menu expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining Sequoia’s elevated hospitality standards.
Essential Functions
- Provide efficient and friendly guest service to a 3–6 table section while following Sequoia’s established Steps of Service Accurately record orders, process payments, and reconcile sales according to restaurant procedures Maintain polished table maintenance, timing, and course pacing standards Safely transport food and beverages while maintaining presentation standards Operate all necessary tools and equipment safely and effectively Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members Multitask calmly and efficiently in a busy environment Work effectively in confined or crowded spaces with varying noise and temperature levels Stand and walk for extended periods and safely navigate all restaurant areas Lift up to 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally Maintain availability for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Create memorable waterfront dining experiences by anticipating guest needs Greet guests warmly and maintain confident menu knowledge Demonstrate strong understanding of Sequoia’s cuisine, beverage program, and allergy procedures Promote seasonal features, wine selections, and specials using thoughtful sales techniques Maintain table presence through proactive service and guest engagement Use sound judgment when resolving guest concerns and involve management when appropriate Maintain proficiency with POS systems and payment processing tools Follow all sanitation, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready workspace Collaborate with Hosts, Runners, Bussers, and Management to maintain service flow Perform additional duties as assigned by management
BARTENDER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary Bartenders are responsible for preparing high-quality beverages while creating an engaging and professional bar experience. This role reflects Sequoia’s energetic waterfront atmosphere through precision, efficiency, and hospitality-driven interaction.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and serve beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards Maintain full service of the bar top, service well, and bar dining guests Stock and restock bar areas with glassware, ice, alcohol, and supplies Safely operate all bar equipment including blenders, knives, and beverage tools Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar throughout the shift Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members Multitask effectively while maintaining composure in high-volume service Safely handle frequent exposure to liquids and cleaning solutions Stand and walk for extended periods and safely navigate all restaurant areas Lift up to 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally Maintain flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays

- Deliver welcoming, high-energy hospitality reflective of Sequoia’s brand Demonstrate strong beverage knowledge including spirits, wine, cocktails, and seasonal features Safely change kegs, CO2 tanks, and beverage systems as required Maintain accurate inventory control and protect bar assets Manage and reconcile bar cash handling procedures accurately Identify signs of intoxication and follow responsible alcohol service guidelines Support service team members to maintain smooth dining room operations Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing bar environment Follow all policies, procedures, and training requirements Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Pay: $10.00 - $19.00 per hour
