Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks and other commercial vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tractor-trailers to deliver freight across assigned routes
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using equipment like forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling of freight including refrigerated goods and heavy items
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking manual transmissions, brakes, lights, and refrigeration units when applicable
- Plan optimal delivery routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery schedules while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports for each trip; communicate any delays or issues promptly to dispatch
- Assist with securing freight on flatbeds or roll-off trucks to prevent damage during transit
- Collaborate with warehouse teams for seamless loading/unloading processes and ensure cargo is handled with care
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and none CDL with a clean driving record
- Proven one year experience as a delivery driver or truck driver in various settings such as freight transport or route driving
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using pallet jack or manual methods when required
- Strong understanding of route planning and navigation tools for timely deliveries
- Physical ability to lift heavy cargo and perform vehicle inspections regularly
