Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, vital signs measurement, and documentation of medical histories using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Support clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, medication administration, X-ray assistance, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Manage patient records accurately, including medical documentation, ICD coding, and updating electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, ensuring comfort, and facilitating efficient flow within outpatient clinics or inpatient units.
- Support hospital medicine teams with tasks like physiology assessments, anatomy-related procedures, and hospital experience protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to safety standards in high-acuity environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or PICU settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless coordination of care across specialties including geriatrics, medical-surgical units, internal medicine, and emergency medicine.
Requirements
- Prior experience in medical office settings or hospital environments with exposure to outpatient or inpatient care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding principles.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems), EMR management, and medical documentation practices.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate empathy in diverse healthcare contexts.
- Experience working in specialized areas such as dermatology, urgent care, internal medicine, or trauma centers is preferred but not required.
- Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced environments like emergency medicine units or Level II trauma centers while maintaining attention to detail.
