Monday - Friday: 8:00AM to 4:00PM; some weekend work as needed
This position is scheduled for 35 hours per week, with occasional opportunities to work up to 40 hours based on organizational needs.
This position is responsible for:
Under the direct supervision of the Property Manager and Facilities Manager, the Building Maintenance Worker I provides general maintenance, custodial, transportation, and logistical support for facilities throughout the National Capital Area Command (NCAC). The incumbent must be dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently while supporting multiple locations and special events.
Responsibilities include driving Command vehicles, delivering and picking up materials, basic facility maintenance, office and warehouse cleaning, groundskeeping, furniture assembly and movement, event support, and other duties assigned by the Property Department. The successful candidate must be willing to report to different locations throughout the Command as needed and be able to use a smartphone to access Microsoft Outlook email and calendar functions in order to receive work assignments, schedules, and communications. Demonstrated willingness to learn and safely operate additional equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, lift equipment, and other light material-handling equipment as needed to support Property Department operations. Training may be provided.
Key Responsibilities:

Operates Command vehicles, including vans, pickup trucks, and box trucks, in a safe and professional manner

Picks up and delivers supplies, furniture, equipment, mail, packages, and other materials as directed

Performs routine building maintenance and minor repairs including painting, drywall patching, minor carpentry, replacing light bulbs, and other basic maintenance tasks

Monitors Microsoft Outlook email and calendar on a smartphone to receive schedules, assignments, and departmental communications

Assists with warehouse organization, inventory movement, and material distribution

Assists with preventative maintenance activities and reports maintenance concerns to the Property Manager

Performs routine cleaning of offices, kitchens, break rooms, restrooms, hallways, storage areas, and common spaces

Mows grass, trims shrubs and hedges, removes debris, and assists with general grounds maintenance

Assists with snow and ice removal activities during winter weather conditions
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to perform prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

High School or G.E.D. preferred AND

Experience performing general maintenance, custodial work, groundskeeping, deliveries, warehouse work, OR
-
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements
