Project Manager (Junior) – IT Infrastructure

Rothe is seeking an entry-level Project Manager to support NASA’s IT Infrastructure portfolio in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications NASA’s OCIO and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, producing NASA TV segments, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world. Job Description:

The Project Manager (Junior) IT Infrastructure provides foundational project management support across documentation, scheduling assistance, coordination, and task tracking for IT Infrastructure projects and initiatives. This role contributes to maintaining accurate project information, supporting communication across OCIO teams, and helping ensure the smooth execution of day‑to‑day project activities under the guidance of more senior project managers. The Project Manager (Junior) assists in gathering updates, capturing details, organizing information, and supporting adherence to project processes and governance expectations.

Functional Responsibilities:

Project Management and Lifecycle Support

Assist with updating and maintaining project documentation such as schedules, action logs, meeting notes, and basic risk or issue entries.
Gather project updates from team members and ensure data is captured accurately in approved tools.
Support preparation of routine project status inputs and assist with assembling briefing materials.
Participate in project meetings to capture discussion points, document follow‑up actions and coordinate assigned tasks.
Help maintain document repositories, shared folders, and configuration‑controlled project files following established practices.

Integration and Stakeholder Coordination

Coordinate with team members to collect updates, clarify assigned tasks, and support the flow of project information.
Communicate routine project updates clearly and ensure information being shared is timely and accurate.
Assist in recognizing potential risks, delays, or conflicts in task coordination and elevate concerns appropriately.
Support compliance with project expectations, including adherence to guidance derived from frameworks such as NPR 7120.x, NIST, or OMB memorandums, as directed by senior staff.

Continual Service Improvement

Identify small process or documentation improvements based on day‑to‑day work experience.
Assist in implementing new templates, workflows, or documentation practices to support overall team efficiency.
Participate in discussions related to service improvement efforts and help gather feedback or data to support refinement efforts.

Deliverable Tracking and Documentation

Assist with tracking project deliverables, due dates, and document submissions to ensure nothing is missed.
Maintain organized, up‑to‑date files that reflect current project status and documentation needs.
Support traceability efforts by documenting where deliverables are stored and verifying completion status with project leads.

Remote, hybrid, and onsite positions the employee bears travel costs to nearest NASA Center for badging and issue of NASA IT equipment.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education: BA/BS
Minimum Experience: 1–3 years of experience supporting projects in IT, infrastructure, government, technical, or operational environments. Experience may include coordination, documentation, scheduling, or other project support activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Foundational understanding of project management concepts, tools, and practices.
Basic familiarity with IT terminology, systems, or infrastructure environments.
Ability to maintain documentation, track assigned tasks, and support coordination activities.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple small tasks simultaneously.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to support interactions with technical and non-technical team members.
Curiosity and willingness to learn project management frameworks, tools, and governance expectations.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate project documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to federal government or NASA environments.
Awareness of NIST standards, OMB memorandums, or similar policy frameworks (even at a basic level).
Experience supporting teams in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
Training or coursework in project management (e.g., CAPM, Agile fundamentals, or PM coursework).
Experience with collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Teams, Excel, or documentation management systems.
