POSITION TITLE: Shift Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Warehouse & Fleet Operations
Scaffold Resource has been a fixture and steady force in the Mid-Atlantic region’s scaffold and vertical access industry for more than two decades. Created in 1998, Scaffold Resource has grown in its ability to provide a vast array of vertical access services. It has successfully accomplished this task while expanding its customer base and project capabilities to meet the demands of every conceivable challenge it has been contracted to complete.
OVERVIEW:
This position reports to the Director of Warehouse and Fleet Operations and is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the warehouse, managing material and equipment, and assisting with the logistics of the company’s fleet of vehicles and machinery. The Shift Manager works to optimize fleet usage, reduce operational costs, and ensure timely delivery of scaffolding materials and equipment to job sites. This is a nightshift position. Weekends are required in rotation with the dayshift manager. Typical hours are 1:00pm-10:00pm.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
FLEET –
- Oversee the daily operations of the company’s vehicle fleet, ensuring efficient deployment and scheduling for deliveries, pickups, and other transport needs, including emergency requests.
- Identify and address potential trucking issues proactively.
- Ensure trucks comply with DOT regulations, including IFTA requirements.
- Assist with vehicle maintenance and upkeep.
- Ensure the fleet is equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to support scaffolding projects, including cranes, trucks, and lifting devices.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize fleet performance, optimize routes, and improve overall productivity.
- Oversee snow removal operations at the facility to ensure safety and accessibility.
PERSONNEL & FIELD SUPPORT –
- Assist and provide support to various departments, including Field Managers, Foremen, Safety, Fabrication, Hoisting, Sales, and Administration.
- Assist in recruiting and hiring qualified warehouse staff.
- Track and manage working hours for drivers, warehouse staff, and temporary workers.
- Ensure drivers remain in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Adhere to, enforce, and support all safety regulations and training initiatives at the facility.
- Report any delays, obstacles, or issues to the supervisor, offering solutions and alternatives when necessary.
- Maintain daily shift logs and ensure all relevant paperwork (time sheets, equipment logs, safety checks) are completed accurately.
SCAFFOLD & MOBILE EQUIPMENT –
- Ensure that tools and scaffolding components are available and in good condition.
- Assist with coordinating re-rental and straight rental of scaffold equipment.
- Coordinate and manage the delivery and re-rentals of mobile equipment to meet project needs.
- Track and report on equipment usage and resource allocation using scaffold management software.
PURCHASING, BILLING, & INVENTORY –
- Assist with purchasing the proper equipment for projects and managing work order documentation.
- Assist with billing processes to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
- Maintain an updated inventory of fleet vehicles, ensuring they are assigned to projects based on need and availability.
- Assist with inventory management and procurement of scaffolding materials.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Scaffolding, shoring, and hoisting experience is a plus but not necessary.
- Proficient in the use of computers, excel, email, and other job-related software and technology.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English required.
- OSHA 30 Hour Certification, or commitment to achieving.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends if required.
- Ability to maintain an active state issued driver’s license.
