Overview
The Starz Program is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Manager to help launch a new franchise location in Northern Virginia, DC, and Bethesda-Chevy Chase. Starz provides dance, cheerleading, and sports classes to children ages 2-12 directly in preschools and elementary schools. The position will require approx. 20-30 hours per week Mon-Fri between the hours of 9am-6pm. Some work will be conducted on-site at partner schools, while administrative work can be done remotely on a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter willing to teach classes and roll up their sleeves to help launch the program in a new market.
*Candidates must live in the DMV area year-round and be available to work during the entire 2025-26 school year, ideally for 2+ school years, with potential to grow with the company.*
Responsibilities
Teach Classes
- Teach approx. 6-8 classes each week; must be able to teach and sub for ALL classes (dance/ballet, cheerleading, and various sports) and serve as a model coach for the team.
- Manage team call-outs and serve as the primary back-up instructor for the team.
Team Leadership
- Serve as a lead instructor for the local team of instructors.
- Help to recruit and hire new instructors.
- Train new instructors by providing on-site and remote training.
- Conduct regular check-ins and on-site observations to support instructors.
- Stay up-to-date and knowledgeable of all program curriculum in order to coach and support instructors on class curriculum. Help to modify curriculum as needed.
- Maintain weekly communication with instructors to provide updates, support, and answer questions.
- Lead in-person and remote team meetings as needed to share updates and build team culture.
Area Leadership
- Serve as the face of the program across the region. Attend local meetings and other events as needed to represent the program.
- Build and maintain positive local relationships with staff, partners, parents, students, and community groups.
Partner Relationships & Class Scheduling
- Help to market and recruit new schools and partners into the program, with a goal to launch 10+ new school partners during the 2025-26 school year.
- Build and maintain strong, positive, and professional relationships with all partner schools.
- Proactively schedule classes and coordinate class logistics with partner sites.
- Manage and respond to inquiries from partner sites and parents in a timely and professional manner.
Other Duties
- Attend weekly in-person and virtual check-in meetings with the Area Owner.
- Help to lead monthly staff meetings, attend franchise calls, and special events.
- Manage program databases, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Assist the Area Owner with other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements
- Must be an excellent teacher with experience and a passion for teaching groups of children ages 2-10.
- Must have experience in a leadership position managing or coaching others.
- Must have some relevant program management experience coordinating programs, partnerships, and/or program administrative tasks.
- Must have a background and passion for dance, cheerleading, and/or sports with a willingness to learn how to teach all classes.
- Must live in or near Northern Virginia with reliable transportation to travel to partner sites across Northern Virginia, DC, and Bethesda-Chevy Chase.
- Must be available to work year-round (during the school year + summers).
- Must be extremely reliable, a strong communicator, professional, and organized.
- Proof of a valid driver’s license.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to lift and carry class equipment and supplies up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to walk, sit, bend, squat, raise arms above head, run short distances, and move around a classroom or similar type space to teach fitness classes and monitor students without limitation.
Compensation:
- $25/hour for teaching and subbing for classes (approx. 6-8 hrs/week)
- $18/hour for administrative work (approx. 10-20 hrs/week)
