About Us:

The FH Faunteroy Community Enrichment Center (FCEC) is a nonprofit 501 c(3) community-based organization established in 2013. It provides consistent, high-quality programming at a multi-generational level, embedded in community and environmental stewardship, with opportunities for enrichment, education, and exposure to enable resilience and sustained success. Having been chosen by the Ward 7 Resilience Hub Community Committee (RHCC) as the pilot resilience hub in DC, its mission is to expand its programming and physical footprint to accommodate becoming a Tier 1 resilience hub. The transformative initiative for the FCEC is branded as “Resilience Incubator@FH Faunteroy.” The Ward 7 RHCC is a nonprofit organization with the mission to create a network of community resilience hubs throughout the District of Columbia.

Resilience is the ability of people, and their communities, to anticipate, accommodate, and positively adapt to or thrive amidst changing climate conditions and hazardous events. A resilience hub is a community facility that connects residents to resources and services, helping them prepare for disruptions, including chronic stressors and acute emergencies. Resilience hubs are open in times of emergency as well as in everyday “steady state” to connect residents to resources, build climate resilience-related skills, and cultivate relationships in the communities they serve. Community resilience hubs support communities to become more self-determining, socially connected, and successful.

Position Summary:

This hybrid role combines the exciting responsibilities of an Events Planner (70%) with the essential support functions of an Administrative Assistant (30%) to the Director of Operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be responsible for planning and executing a variety of events while also providing crucial administrative support to the Director of Operations.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

Events Planner (70%):

· Implement comprehensive event plans that encompass budgeting, venue selection, vendor management, marketing, and logistics.

· Manage all aspects of event execution, from pre-event planning to post-event follow-up.

· Secure sponsorships and manage relationships with sponsors.

· Implement and manage event registration processes.

· Track event budgets to ensure adherence to financial guidelines.

· Collaborate on event marketing and promotion activities, including social media and email campaigns.

· Track event attendance and gather post-event feedback.

· Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the success of event delivery.

· Manage event materials, including invitations and promotional materials.

· Maintain accurate records of event-related expenses and revenue.

· Identify and explore new event opportunities aligned with the organization's mission.

Administrative Assistance (30%):

· Provide administrative support to the Director of Operations, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.

· Manage incoming and outgoing communication, answering phones, and responding to emails.

· Assist with travel arrangements and expense reports.

· Maintain organized filing systems, both physical and digital.

· Assist with coordinating meetings and events for the Director of Operations.

· Manage office supplies and equipment.

· Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:

$20 per hour (Full-time 40 hours per week)

Benefits include Health, paid vacation, and paid sick days.

Target Start Date: ASAP

Preferred Qualifications:

· A bachelor’s degree in Events Management or related field experience is preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience planning events for a business or organization, with proven success in increasing engagement and reach. Nonprofit experience is a plus.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

· Experience using event planning software (e.g., Eventbrite, Cvent) is a plus.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

· Detail-oriented with a strong ability to problem-solve.
