Position Summary
The Truck Driver operates commercial or non-commercial trucks in support of a federal government contract. The position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of materials, equipment, and supplies while complying with federal, state, DoD (if applicable), and contract requirements.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate assigned trucks to transport supplies, materials, and equipment
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Load, secure, and unload cargo in accordance with safety procedures
- Maintain driver logs, trip tickets, and delivery documentation
- Ensure compliance with DOT, federal, state, and contract regulations
- Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, and receiving personnel
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and basic care of assigned vehicle
- Follow installation traffic, security, and safety rules
- Support audits, inspections, and contract reviews as required
Qualifications Required Experience
- Experience operating trucks or similar vehicles
- Experience supporting government or federal contracts preferred
- CDL with Hazmat endorsement
- Must be able to drive a 10 speed tractor with trailor.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred Licenses / Certifications
- Valid driver’s license required
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required if operating commercial vehicles
- Ability to obtain and maintain installation driving privileges
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of safe driving and cargo handling procedures
- Familiarity with DOT and federal transportation regulations
- Ability to complete logs and documentation accurately
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to safety and detail
Security & Compliance Requirements
- Must pass background investigation as required by the contract
- Ability to obtain and maintain access to federal or DoD installations
- Compliance with all transportation, safety, and security policies
- Must be able to fulfill DOT physical regulations
Working Conditions
- Operation of vehicles in various weather and traffic conditions
- May require lifting, climbing, and prolonged driving
- Possible shift work, weekends, or overtime based on contract needs
