This role is a TEMPORARY, Part-time position that supports the Girls on the Rise Program Director and Social Worker/Family Support staff in running the after-school and camp programs at the Mary Virginia Merrick Center.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain positive relationships with youth and families in the Girls on the Rise After-School Program.
- Assist in facilitating after-school program activities and groups.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the program.
- Help with after-school activities and meal distribution.
- Execute program plans and activities tailored to the needs of individual children and youth.
- Address program participants' physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs.
- Administer program curricula and implement social/emotional interventions.
- Lead and facilitate both planned and spontaneous activities.
- Interact professionally with children and their families.
- Work independently or as part of a team to create a safe, fun, and enriching environment.
- Serve as a positive role model for program participants.
- Provide supervision during daily transportation to the Center.
- Track attendance and prepare reports or updates for assigned groups.
- Attend staff meetings and assist in planning and overseeing major program events.
- Must be available to work occasional weekends as needed.
Education: A high school diploma is required; college-level coursework in education or recreation is preferred.
Experience: Previous experience working with school-aged children/teens in a recreational or educational setting is preferred.
