JOB SUMMARY
This position is located in the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). The Customer Service function for DPR is spread across multiple business units which include, but are not limited to Community Recreation, Coop/Early/Middle Childhood Programs, Aquatics, Teen Programs, Seniors and Therapeutic Recreation.
These positions are responsible for providing critical front-line customer service and support to visitors, recreation specialists and program managers at a variety of recreational facilities and sites throughout the District of Columbia.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent of this position will provide high quality customer service by consistently exhibiting an enthusiastic and eager focus to members that is prompt and courteous; greeting members with a smile, eye contact, and personalized message; responding to questions with accurate information or referring them to an appropriate contact; resolving issues in a timely manner while displaying a high sense of urgency. Supports recreational facilities and sites by providing excellent customer service at the front desk and central office locations open to patrons. Services registrations, reservations, meetings, events, and programs by providing general administrative support including word processing, data entry, filing and record management.
Maintains a safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment for customers by adhering to standards, policies and procedures, health codes, and regulations; informs customers of useful information and updates relative to the established guidelines in a positive manner; provide solution-driven problems solving when resolving issues and enforcing rules. Maintains the main office/front desk area of each recreational site to include ensuring office and area are open and operational; organizes program materials, posting boards, and other resources information areas; ensures mail is distributed and other pertinent information as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is sedentary in nature; however, the individual will need to stand and walk periodically to ensure that the general office space and front desk are operational and secure, and to routinely assist customers, clients and guest by directing them to the appropriate location in the recreational site. The environment calls for the standard level of safety precautions that would be present in a small office/front desk service area.

Position Designation: This position has been designated as Protection Sensitive. Pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C.
