Position Summary
Raddatz & Associates is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and ensure the smooth operation of our office. This role involves a blend of administrative, clerical, and legal support duties. The ideal candidate will have experience in a legal office setting, preferably with a focus on litigation, landlord-tenant, or real estate law.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents including pleadings, notices, letters, contracts, and court forms.
- Manage attorney calendars, including court dates, filing deadlines, and client appointments.
- Organize and maintain case files, both physical and electronic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, process servers, and government agencies.
- Coordinate eviction filings, service of process, and administrative hearing submissions.
- Perform data entry, prepare billing statements, and track time entries for attorneys.
- Support attorneys with trial prep, including organizing exhibits, assembling case materials, and scheduling witnesses.
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and front-office duties with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with DC court systems and electronic filing procedures.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and basic case management tools.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive client information.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or paralegal certification a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a landlord-tenant, real estate, or administrative law firm.
- Familiarity with landlord-focused documentation (e.g., notices to quit, rent ledgers, lease summaries).
- Basic understanding of eviction procedures in DC.
- Experience working with court websites such as e-filing portals and case look-up tools.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.87 - $19.80 per hour
