Job Summary
Windows Catering is seeking enthusiastic, entry-level culinary professionals to join our kitchen team as Cook I. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for cooking and a desire to grow within the hospitality industry. Cook I will work under the guidance of senior culinary staff to support food preparation, kitchen organization, and event execution in a high-volume, luxury catering environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing garnishes.
- Set up and break down workstations and food prep areas according to kitchen standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of workstations throughout shifts.
- Support kitchen staff during service and off-premise event preparation as directed.
- Label, date, and store food properly to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
- Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to comply with all local and company standards.
- Willingly learn and adapt to a variety of kitchen roles as training progresses.
- Perform other duties as assigned by kitchen leadership.
Requirements
- Enthusiasm for culinary arts and willingness to learn in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
- Some prior kitchen, food service, or hospitality experience (preferred, not required).
- Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and communicate effectively.
- Basic understanding of kitchen tools and hygiene practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- ServSafe or other food safety certification (preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire).
