The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) offers a wide variety of group fitness classes throughout the community.We are looking for skilled, certified fitness professionals to teach safe, high quality, dynamic group fitness classes powered by creativity and enthusiasm. Strong leadership capabilities, effective communication skills, ability to self-direct and knowledge of current industry standards and trends are a must. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
NATURE OF WORK This class is part of the Recreation Job Family. Incumbents performs routine work in connection with various recreation programs or activities. Instructors in this classification teach beginner level fitness classes. Example; open schedule classes and personal training. May provide daily upkeep and light maintenance of equipment and facility. Distinguishing CharacteristicsThis position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable code of conduct rules; providing customer services. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines, and deviation from those guidelines require approval. This position is responsible for organizing and conducting lesson and activity plans for assigned classes, monitoring equipment condition, and maintaining program safety.TYPICAL CLASS RESPONSIBILITIES (These responsibilities are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)1. Conducts aerobic, weight training, and/or other exercise classes; and ensures that patrons perform exercises in an accurate and safe manner. 2. Provides excellence in customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public. Facilitates recreation facility tours; and maintains and updates client membership information. 3. Maintains and prepares equipment and facility and maintains related records. Coordinates exercise and class schedules, tracks class attendance, and reviews class feedback. 4. Enforces program and facility rules; provides emergency care and treatment as required. 5. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
