We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sushi preparation, culinary arts, and food safety standards. This role involves creating authentic sushi dishes, menu planning, and maintaining high-quality food presentation in a fine dining environment. The Sushi Chef will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests while adhering to all food handling and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision, artistry, and consistency.
- Develop and plan sushi menus that align with restaurant standards and customer preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, ensuring compliance with food safety protocols.
- Handle all aspects of food preparation including slicing, rolling, and plating sushi items.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking.
- Ensure all food handling practices meet health department regulations and safety standards.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service times.
- Assist in training junior staff or apprentices in sushi techniques and kitchen procedures.
- Uphold the restaurant’s reputation for quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sushi preparation, fine dining, or culinary arts within the food industry.
- Strong knife skills and expertise in food handling, cooking, and meal preparation.
- Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and catering is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices.
- Previous restaurant experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine or sushi is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
