Metro Mohs Surgery Center, LLC is looking for a dynamic individual to join our growing dermatology team! We are currently hiring for a Medical Assistant to add to our excellent team of MA's.
osition Summary:
The Dermatology Surgical Assistant supports Mohs Surgeons in delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities, including preparing patients for exams, assisting with dermatologic procedures, maintaining treatment rooms, and ensuring accurate medical documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and experienced in a clinical or dermatology-specific setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Greet and prepare patients for dermatology exams and procedures.
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, allergies, and vital signs.
- Assist with Mohs surgery procedures, excisions, laser treatments, and cosmetic procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments, treatment trays, and procedure rooms.
- Apply and remove dressings, sutures, and topical medications as directed.
- Educate patients on wound care, treatment plans, and skincare routines.
- Handle specimen collection, labeling, and submission to the lab.
- Maintain inventory of medical and skincare supplies.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage follow-up visits.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance verification.
- Manage phone calls, patient inquiries, and prescription refill requests.
- Support the dermatologist in maintaining efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification preferred).
- 1–2 years of experience in a dermatology or medical office setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of dermatologic terminology, procedures, and instruments.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., EMA, eClinicalWorks, or Epic).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Compassionate, professional demeanor with strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for handling instruments and performing procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Work Hours:
7 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday
