Job Overview
This position is skilled journey-level work in the construction or maintenance and repair of all facilities, grounds and equipment throughout the Prince William County School System. This position is preformed under the general supervision of the shop foreman.

Essential Responsibilities - specific to this job
*Performs skilled facilities or grounds maintenance work using a variety of materials, tools, equipment and techniques
*Performs skilled work on electric and gasoline tools and equipment
*Operates large trucks and heavy equipment, as necessary, to perform various maintenance activities
*Performs other trades work, as necessary, for the successful completion of work orders or projects
*Leads or instructs lower level employees in the techniques of the various trades and in the use, care and operation of tools and materials of the trade
*Builds and tears down scaffolding
*Performs preventive maintenance checks and repairs to all building systems and equipment
*Attends seminars for further training related to building maintenance, materials, and new techniques
*Responds to emergency duty assignments when required
*Performs snow removal duties, as needed
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors
*Considerable knowledge of the methods, tools, materials and practices of the various trades
*Considerable knowledge of local, state and federal building and safety codes
*Considerable knowledge of shop equipment and safety procedures
*Ability to comply with all the safety rules and regulations of the trade
*Ability to read and write and to work from blueprints and specifications
*Skill in the application of methods, techniques and tools used in the various trades, for new construction, maintenance and repairs
*Skill in the care and use of tools, equipment and material of the trade
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.35 - $43.79 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
