Job Summary
We are looking for a kind, friendly, and fast server to join our team. Cafe Bueno is a locally-owned, authentic Mexican Restaurant just outside of Downtown Frederick MD. Servers must make their own alcoholic beverages, so bartending experience is preferred in addition to serving experience. We value teamwork, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Our mission is to help guests discover Authentic Mexican food as if they were a guest in our own home.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, friendly service throughout their dining experience
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using our FuturePOS system.
- Process sales transactions efficiently, including cash handling and credit card payments
- Upsell menu items, including cocktails, spirits, wine, and specialty dishes to enhance guest satisfaction and increase sales
- Clear tables, bus tables (bussing), sweep and mop to ensure a clean dining environment
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, allergen information, and beverage options like Mexican aguas frescas, beer and specialty margaritas.
- Provide excellent guest relations by addressing questions, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring a positive experience
- Support opening or closing duties such as setting up or cleaning the dining area to uphold sanitation standards
Skills
- 2 years of proven experience in food service or restaurant environments with strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of beverage service including cocktails, spirits, wine knowledge, and drink presentation techniques
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while processing sales efficiently
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods
- Strong communication skills for engaging with guests and team members effectively
- Basic math skills for calculating bills, tips, and processing payments confidently
- Commitment to sanitation standards including food safety practices and proper hygiene protocols
All servers are required to pass Frederick County liquor board's Tips Training within three months of hire.
Pay: $7.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
