Truth currently serves a culturally diverse population of 6th to 11th grade students in Washington, DC, and next year will serve 6th to 12th grade students.
Position:
The Operations Assistant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the school’s physical environment. This includes ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of school buildings, classrooms, and grounds, as well as the processing of all packages and materials throughout the building. The position offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in facilities management
The Operations Assistant, like all other staff, should be fully invested in Truth’s two Design Principles:

Responsibilities:
- Conduct basic inspections of the building to identify and report any maintenance or safety issues (e.g., broken fixtures, leaks, electrical concerns).
- Assist with the regular inspection of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other safety equipment.
- Support compliance with safety protocols, ensuring the school is in good standing with local building and safety codes.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of classrooms, meeting spaces, and event areas as needed.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of school facilities, including floors, windows, restrooms, and furniture, and that all hallways and corridors remain free of debris and unwanted markings.
- Conduct basic inspections of the building to identify and report any maintenance or safety issues (e.g., broken fixtures, leaks, electrical concerns).
- Assist with the regular inspection of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other safety equipment.
- Support compliance with safety protocols, ensuring the school is in good standing with local building and safety codes.
- Provide logistical support for school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities, including setting up and breaking down equipment and furniture.
- Ensure that event spaces are clean, organized, and safe for staff and students.
- Assist with the management of supplies and equipment, ensuring stock levels are sufficient.
- Report low or damaged supplies to the Operations Manager for reordering.
- Support with the receipt and delivery of all supply and material orders to all staff.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and other team members to ensure that all areas of the school are properly maintained.
- Provide back-up front desk support as needed.
- Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional certifications in facilities management or maintenance are a plus, but not required.
- No prior facilities experience required, though a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn are essential.
- Previous experience in custodial or maintenance roles, or working in a school or public setting is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning and maintenance equipment and products.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to creating a safe and clean learning environment for students and staff.

Pay: $44,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
