The expected salary range for this role on hire is $60,513 to $84,099.WHO WE AREThe Office of Community Use of Public Facilities (CUPF) works with community groups and individuals to plan for, and issue permits for, use of space for events and programs in public schools, including ball fields, located in the County as well as County government buildings and libraries.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORThe Program Specialist I position will primarily coordinate use of schools, ball fields, government buildings and the Silver Spring Civic Building by County groups and citizens.??This involves interfacing with MCPS/County government staff and citizen/community/ school-based groups/individuals to assess needs and logistics, and to develop an appropriate match between facilities available and the group/individual's needs.An incumbent in this position applies skill in problem solving, managing conflicting demands, and ensuring users are apprised of, and comply with, guidelines, policies and procedures for use of space as established by the Interagency Coordinating Board (ICB), all of which require a high level of administrative and organizational skills.The position will schedule use of facilities by accurately applying and collecting fees, executing facility use agreements and permits, and entering pertinent information into the CUPF scheduling system.Primary roles include interfacing with/assisting community members in planning/scheduling the use of the County's public facilities and athletic fields for activities and interfacing/coordinating with school and other facility liaisons.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties include but are not limited to: Performing database searches; identifying staffing and scheduling requirements; ensuring requirements are met; explaining conditions of use to user groupsEntering data into a system; accurately configuring costs; assessing the appropriateness of user requestsProviding direct support to customer questions and requests for assistance using scheduling software for facility reservation and account creationAssisting community groups in planning for their events and activities; scheduling and confirming space utilizationResolving issues and problems between facility personnel and user groupsPreparing correspondence and documentation, as neededWork is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level employee and is reviewed for program effectiveness.To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory trainings within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.
