The job in a nutshell
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on individual to join our team as Assistant Warehouse Manager. This role will support the Warehouse Manager in overseeing day-to-day inbound and outbound operations at our Washington, DC facility, ensuring that customer demands are met efficiently, accurately, and safely.
The Assistant Warehouse Manager will help coordinate staffing, schedules, and resources to maintain smooth operations and high levels of customer service, while also supporting continuous improvement in processes, cost efficiency, and compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong organizational and people management skills who is eager to play a key role in the success of our US warehouse operations.
Who you will work with
Internal: Buying, Shipping Dept, Sales & Service, Exports, Compliance, Dispatch, Fine Wine Team, Stock control, Site Services, IT, Finance, BBR Shops, People team.
External: Hauliers, MHE providers, Building contractors
What you will do
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement in all warehouse operations.
- Support the Warehouse Manager in overseeing day-to-day activities, including receiving, inventory management, and shipping.
- Lead, train, and motivate warehouse staff, ensuring high standards of accuracy, safety, and compliance.
- Serve as a key holder with on-call responsibilities, and step in as Warehouse Manager when required.
- Maintain stock integrity and ensure proper handling of temperature-sensitive wine and spirits.
- Oversee materials ordering and inventory control.
- Share driving responsibilities for deliveries to the retail location.
- Keep warehouse and office areas clean, safe, and organized.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Role Requirements
Experience / Achievements
- Demonstrate understanding of excellent stock integrity.
- Previous experience of stock consolidation procedures to maximize occupancy.
- Working in a multi-site operation.
- 3+ years of warehouse or logistics experience (wine, beverage, or alcohol distribution strongly preferred).
Your Skills, Knowledge and Behaviors
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Comfortable with material handling equipment (MHE); forklift certification a plus.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license; experience with box trucks preferred.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
