ABOUT THE JOB
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a critical leadership role that serves as the primary backup and strategic partner to the General Manager, overseeing both dispensary retail operations and production activities. This highly dynamic position requires a flexible, proactive, and solutions-oriented leader who can pivot quickly between front-of-house customer service and complex back-of-house operational demands. The AGM must be a self-starter, dedicated to recognizing and solving problems efficiently to ensure seamless operations and regulatory compliance.
AT FLOWERZ YOU’LL OVERSEE…
- GM Support and Operational Backup: Serve as the second-in-command, assuming full responsibility for all dispensary and production operations in the General Manager's absence, ensuring continuous, compliant, and efficient service.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Exhibit strong proactivity by consistently identifying operational inefficiencies, compliance risks, and staffing gaps, and implementing corrective actions without direct instruction.
- Flexibility and Pivoting: Maintain a highly flexible approach, seamlessly transitioning between retail floor management, production oversight, administrative tasks, and covering retail staff shifts as required by business needs.
- Retail Floor Coverage: Directly support the retail team by covering various floor shifts, including opening, closing, and peak hours, to ensure excellent customer service and operational flow.
Essential Cannabis Operations Management DutiesRetail & Customer Experience
- Oversee daily retail operations, ensuring exceptional customer experience, consistent product knowledge among staff, and adherence to sales goals.
- Handle complex customer issues, escalated transactions, and complaints in a professional, compliant, and resolution-focused manner.
- Manage inventory control processes on the retail floor, ensuring accuracy between POS and physical stock.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure strict compliance with all state and local regulations, tracking, and reporting requirements, including requirements regarding age, third-party lab testing and accurate packing and labeling.
- Conduct regular internal audits of operating procedures, documentation, and facility cleanliness.
- Manage security protocols, including cash handling, safe procedures, inventory movement, and adherence to security footage retention requirements.
Inventory and Production Support
- Assist the GM in managing inventory flow, including receiving shipments, conducting cycle counts, and preparing products for the sales floor.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure seamless product transfer, quality control, and compliance with packaging and labeling standards.
- Oversee product returns, damages, and destructions in compliance with regulatory procedures.
Leadership & Team Development
- Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring retail and production staff, fostering a mission-focused, educational, and inclusive team environment.
- Support the GM in scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Promote an environment of continuous learning regarding new strains, products, and cannabis science.
THIS ROLE REQUIRES…
- Required: Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
- Highly Desired: Previous experience in the cannabis industry (dispensary or production) or a highly regulated retail environment (pharmacy, finance)
- Technological Proficiency: Advanced proficiency is required with:
- Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems, specifically Square.
- Project Management Tools, specifically monday.com.
- Communication Platforms, specifically Slack.
- Productivity Suites, specifically G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive).
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced, high-change environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of operational procedures and financial controls.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and meet all state regulatory requirements for cannabis industry employment.

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
