Responsibilities
Assist delivery drivers with loading and unloading packages from box trucks or other commercial vehicles, ensuring all items are handled safely and securely. Support route driving by helping to organize packages for efficient delivery routes and navigating delivery areas under supervision. Help load and unload shipments at warehouses or distribution centers using equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts when trained and certified. Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with recipients during package drop-offs, answering questions politely, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Participate in heavy lifting tasks involving moving packages of various sizes and weights, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Support the driver in maintaining accurate delivery documentation, including manifests, delivery logs, and incident reports. Assist with the physical load & unload process at the start and end of each shift, ensuring all packages are accounted for and properly secured. Follow all safety guidelines related to manual transmission driving, load securing, route driving, and equipment operation to promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications
Previous experience in delivery driver roles or courier services is highly desirable. Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude when interacting with clients and team members. Warehouse experience involving heavy lifting, moving supplies, or operating equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks is preferred. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy packages repeatedly throughout the shift. Experience with commercial driving, especially using box trucks or similar vehicles with manual transmissions. Familiarity with route driving procedures and navigation tools to support efficient deliveries. Reliable transportation to commute to work locations daily. A valid driver’s license suitable for operating commercial vehicles; specific driver certifications are a plus but not mandatory initially.
