Custodial General Cleaner

Position Description: Mon/Tues/Wens/Thurs/Sat 9:PM (Flexible Hours)
Pay: Starting $13.00 Per Hour

Under direct supervision, team members will perform routine cleaning duties of facilities.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Emptying waste bins or similar receptacles, transporting waste material to designated collection points.
- Sweeping floors with brushes or dust control mops.
- Mopping floors with wet or damp mops.
- Suction cleaning carpeted areas and “spot” cleaning carpets.
- Using electrically powered scrubbing and polishing machines to burnish, scrub, polish and spray clean floors (after receiving proper instruction and training).
- Using electrically powered pick up machines.
- To dust, damp wipe, wash or polish furniture, ledges, window sills, external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fitments.
- To replenish consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) if required within the contract.
- To clean toilets, urinals, hand basins, sinks, baths, showers and drinking fountains.
- The use of chemical agents as directed by the Supervising Officer in the discharge of cleaning operations or maintenance procedures, after receiving proper instructions and training.
- To undertake wall washing or inside window pane cleaning to a height no greater than body height plus an arm’s extension from floor level, during periodic cleaning maintenance programs.
- Cleaners employed in domestic science areas are required to clean cookers and work surface areas.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.
- Conducts building walk-through with supervisors daily and complete facility inspection reports
- Conducts daily checks of maintenance closets and equipment for safety and cleanliness
- Be able to operate all types of cleaning machinery and equipment
Qualification Summary:
- Minimum of 2 years in the janitorial industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to clearly communicate effectively and tactfully with customers, subordinates, and management of all levels within the organization
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment
- Ability to prioritize and organize work related tasks and special projects
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to operate manual and mechanized equipment.
- Full range of motion.
- Ability to stand, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, reach above shoulders.
- Ability to maintain continuous walking, standing, bending or stooping for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
- Sight required to visually inspect work site.
Constant (up to 100%) standing, walking, pushing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching over head, handling/fingering, reaching forward, and concentrating. Must be able to lift and and/or carry 70lbs.
Work Environment
Work is for the most part performed in an indoor climate of average daily seasonal temperatures. Outside work is subject to varying seasonal temperature Employee may be exposed to odors, chemicals, product spills, dust, loosened wax or water.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will NOT supervise management & employees.
Travel
Travel to various worksites in Stafford County will be required.
