Looney’s Pub in College Park is seeking a dependable and experienced Assistant Kitchen Manager to help oversee daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced college bar environment. This role supports the Kitchen Manager in leading the kitchen team, maintaining food quality standards, managing prep and inventory, and ensuring smooth service during busy shifts. The ideal candidate is organized, hands-on, and able to lead a team during high-volume service. Assistant Kitchen Manager – $48,000–$55,000 starting salary (based on experience)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Kitchen Manager with daily kitchen operations
- Supervise and support line cooks and prep cooks during service
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and proper presentation
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and maintaining par levels
- Help control food cost and reduce waste
- Ensure prep lists and station setup are completed before service
- Work on the line during busy shifts to support the team
- Help train and develop kitchen staff
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff and management
- Assist with scheduling and shift coverage when needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years kitchen experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar
- Previous lead cook or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work quickly and stay organized during busy service
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience with inventory and ordering
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and game days
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a sports bar or high-volume kitchen
- Knowledge of food cost control and kitchen operations
- Experience training kitchen staff
