Skillforce is seeking a Licensed Apprentice Plumber for facility‑wide maintenance and service plumbing work at an institutional campus in the Washington, DC area. This is a full‑time, field‑based opportunity supporting a facilities maintenance department with day‑to‑day plumbing service, repairs, and preventive maintenance across multiple buildings.
Only licensed, carded apprentice plumbers will be considered for this role. Candidates must hold a current plumbing apprentice license/card recognized in the jurisdiction where work is performed and be able to provide proof of active status at time of hire.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine plumbing maintenance, repairs, and service calls across institutional campus buildings

Troubleshoot and repair plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, urinals, water fountains, and faucets

Clear and maintain drain lines using manual and mechanical methods

Repair and maintain domestic water distribution and drain-waste-vent (DWV) systems

Assist with preventive maintenance tasks including inspecting piping, valves, and backflow prevention devices

Respond to work orders through the facility's maintenance management system

Follow all OSHA safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment

Work professionally in occupied buildings around staff, students, and visitors
Qualifications:
-
Active, licensed Apprentice Plumber in good standing (must present current Apprentice license/card at interview and prior to onboarding).

Completion of a registered plumbing apprenticeship licensing exam, or equivalent approved training, meeting Washington, DC or reciprocal jurisdiction requirements.

3+ years of recent hands‑on plumbing experience in commercial, institutional, or large multi‑building facilities.

Strong working knowledge of fixture repair, drain cleaning, copper and PVC piping, domestic water and sanitary systems, and basic gas piping.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plumbing schematics, and work orders, and to ensure all work complies with applicable plumbing codes and OSHA safety regulations.

Proven experience performing preventative maintenance as well as troubleshooting and repairing complex plumbing issues independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to mentor and provide guidance to apprentice plumbers as needed.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions, including standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.

Must be able to successfully complete a background check consistent with applicable laws.

Ability to work legally in the United States and pass any job‑related screening consistent with applicable laws.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the job site.
