Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Distribution Center Manager, located on-site in Ruther Glen, Virginia about 30 minutes north of Richmond, VA and 30 minutes south of Fredericksburg, VA. The Distribution Center Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a 1.2 million square foot grocery distribution facility, including dry, refrigerated, and frozen storage environments. This role ensures operational excellence in inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse productivity, and team leadership, while aligning performance with financial and service-level goals. The manager will drive efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement across a high-volume logistics and supply chain network that supports both domestic and international distribution channels. The base salary range for this position is $82,000-$87,000 with annual performance-based bonus potential.
Qualifications
- Operational Leadership: Manage all warehouse operations for a large-scale, high-volume facility handling international imports and domestic shipments.
- Logistics Management: Oversee receiving, put-away, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping to ensure accuracy, speed, and compliance with customer requirements.
- Financial Oversight: Lead financial planning and reporting for the distribution center, including budget management, cost control, and productivity tracking.
- Process Optimization: Design, implement, and refine operational processes to improve throughput, accuracy, and efficiency across all warehouse departments.
- Team Development: Direct, mentor, and support a large workforce of 50–100 employees through subordinate supervisors and managers; foster a culture of accountability, safety, and engagement.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain adherence to OSHA, food safety, and cold storage handling standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for automation, workflow redesign, and KPI tracking to improve performance in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with transportation, procurement, and import/export teams to ensure seamless supply chain coordination.
- Customer Service: Ensure on-time delivery performance and responsiveness to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned to support business growth.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage 15+ subordinate managers who oversee departmental supervisors and teams across various warehouse functions.
- Direct a total workforce of 30-40 supervisors and hundreds of hourly employees in a high-volume, 24/7 operation.
- Enforce company policies and procedures and drive continuous improvement across all operational levels.
- Maintain a positive, productive workplace with strong communication, collaboration, and employee engagement.
