Job Description
Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Fredericksburg is seeking an experienced and dependable Dietary Cook for a short-term contract assignment. This role is responsible for preparing and cooking meals that meet nutritional guidelines, dietary restrictions, and quality standards in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work efficiently in a healthcare food service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and therapeutic diet requirements
- Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet facility standards
- Follow sanitation, food safety, and infection control guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and food preparation areas
- Properly store food and supplies according to safety standards
- Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing, and other departments
- Adhere to facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Application, resume, and/or documented work history (6–12 months)
- Applicable certifications and licensure (as required by role)
- Completed skills checklist
- Medical documentation and immunization history per Section 2.1
- Verified professional references
- Criminal background check (must be within one year of start date)
