Banquet Server/Bartender Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Banquet Server/Bartender to serve drinks to guests at special events. You should be able to make a variety of popular cocktails and must be familiar with different types of wine and beer. We specialize in large events, so you must have experience handling a high volume of beverage sales. Candidates who have worked for several years as an event or catering bartender and server who hold a bartending certification are a plus. Occasionally you will be required to distribute different kinds of food to guests at special and private events. Dishes may include passed appetizers where you walk the floor throughout the night interacting with the guests, buffets where you will serve the guests from the buffet, or you may bring various courses to tables at a more formal plated meal event. Candidates must have a friendly and professional demeanor, work well on a team, and be comfortable on their feet for several hours at a time. This is an “on call” part time position and candidates must be able to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Take orders from guests
- Manage tabs or voucher systems for payment
- Mix cocktails
- Recommend beer or wine selections to guests
- Clean and maintain portable bar before and after events
- Stock/store all alcohol, sodas, mixers, fruit, and glasses before and after an event
- Have the confidence to stop serving a guest who appears overly intoxicated
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Move and set up tables, chairs and set up banquet hall according to the banquet event order (BEO) before the event
- Serve appetizers and plated dinners to guests
- Deliver food from the kitchen to the event in a timely manner
- Serve and refill non-alcoholic beverages
- Assist with post-event clean up, tear down, putting all dishes, glasses, and silverware in appropriate areas.
- Maintain and organize servery storage areas to include proper storage of all in house décor items.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- 21 years of age
- 2 years of bartending experience
- Bartending certification a plus
- Flexible Schedule
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to stand and walk for several hours at a time and lift up to 30 pounds
- Reliable transportation
